The rock fort temple or the Ucchi Pillayar koil is one of the most important temples in Trichy which is a combination of two hindu temples Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiva, mounted on a rock at an height of 83m. Archeological researches say that this rock is about 3800 million age with 344 steps to reach the top of the fort. And they also say that the carving found inside the cave seems to be of the 3rd century BC.
Srirangam Temple which is another important temple is 7Km away from trichy. It is surrounded by the river Cauvery in one side and by the river Kollidam on the other side which is fascinating. It is surrounded by 7 huge walls with 21 gopurams of which the Raja Gopuram is the largest. Due to the fame and the grandeur of the temple, Srirangam has a booming economy based on tourism.

The KALLANAI DAM is one of the oldest dams built by the Chola King Karikalan before 2000 years. It was constructed mainly to divert the water from Cauvery River for irrigation which stands as a model for most of the modern dams due to its strong engineering structure. This dam stand as a huge mass of 329 meters (1,080 feet) long and 20 meters (60 feet) wide, across the main stream of the Cauvery.
Puliyancholai is situated at a distance of 72 km away from trichy at the foothill of kollimalai. Because of its cool climate and its greenish surrounding filled with trees, herbs and shrubs it attracts people from all over the country. The streams that flow in Puliyancholai have medicinal qualities in it. It also has a falls called the Akaya Gangai where people gather to worship the water God.

Butterfly Park is the largest butterfly park in Asia and also a popular tourist place in Trichy.
